Hollander, MD, from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, discusses the development and current emergency department use of cardiac necrosis biomarkers (CK-MB, troponin, myoglobin), biomarkers of inflammation (C-reactive protein), and newer cardiac biomarkers of myocardial ischemia (brain natriuretic peptide).
